VISA AND TEMPORARY STAY PERMIT – HEALTH INSURANCE
Visa
A visa is required for students coming from non-EU countries to study in Croatia. The list of countries whose nationals need a visa to enter the Republic of Croatia can be found at the web pages of the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. Foreigners can apply for a visa at the nearest Croatian Embassy, Consular or Diplomatic Mission in their home country.
Temporary Stay Permit
Students who are not obliged to possess a visa to enter the Republic of Croatia may stay in Croatia for a maximum of 90 days within a period of 6 months, starting from the day of their first entry.
Students staying in Croatia for a period longer than 90 days should regulate their First Temporary Stay Permit prior to their arrival to Croatia at the competent diplomatic mission or consular post of the Republic of Croatia .
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED:
- Invitation letter from the University of Zagreb stating the study purpose of your stay
- 2 photos in coloure (3 x 3.5 cm)
- Copy of the passport
- Certificate of non-criminal record stamped by a court interpreter (not older than 6 months)
- Proof of health insurance
- Proof of sufficient means of subsistence (statement of bank account, scholarship confirmation or similar)
- Proof of secured accommodation (statement from the University of Zagreb about your accommodation in the student residence hall or rental contract)
All documents need to be translated into Croatian and certified by a public notary.
Within one month upon the arrival students need to report at the Central Police Station in Petrinjska 30, HR-10 000 Zagreb to confirm their stay permit. For that students will need a copy of the passport and the form filled in in the student residence hall upon the arrival.
All foreign students must have health insurance during their stay in Croatia. The best option is to enrol in an insurance plan from your home country that covers your stay in Croatia.
